Window Star - Large Plant Pot
prusaprinters
Update: 3/23/2024 – Centered & widened the six stands in the base of the frame. Need a plant pot that barely fits the print bed? No Problem!Don't like the size? Scale it down (or up if you wish) to suit your needs. There are two parts to this, the pot (for your plant to sit in), and the frame (for your pot to sit in). While the frame is mostly for style and is not essential to print, the pot does have holes in the bottom to allow excess water to drain out. The frame is capable of catching excess water, but if you decide you don't like the frame (I'll try to not let it get to me), I have created trays that will serve just as well.Print SettingsLayer Height – 0.2mmMaterial – PETG (recommended), PLA, or otherInfill – 20% HoneycombPerimeters – 3 (Helps ensure the print is watertight)Top Fill Pattern – ConcentricBottom Fill Pattern – Octagram SpiralZ-hop – 1.5mmSeam Position – AlignedPLEASE READThis print presents a unique challenge, especially compared to my other designs. Numerous thin spires coupled with some steep overhangs make this a little bit tricky to print. To be clear, the pot frame is plenty stable and durable once completed, one just needs to be careful and mindful when printing it.I added my own bridge support to the biggest problem area, as seen in this photo. The supports are designed to be easily clipped off.To help mitigate potential breaks or failed prints, please ensure adequate cooling and make sure your fan shroud is flat on the bottom and not bent or warped down. Also, consider reducing print speed and/or travel speed to 70% or less, either within the slicer or while the print is running. I do not have one, but a heated print chamber may be beneficial. One suggestion I highly recommend is to increase the Z-hop to 1.5mm or more in order to avoid hitting any curled edges. Call it caution or paranoia, but I would prefer to do it right the first time and not loose filament to a failed print.NOTES The pot I designed is compatible with all of my frames, do not worry about the fit.The normal pot has 3mm thick walls. I have not printed the thinner version of the pot yet. It should be thick enough at 1.5mm, but if you print it and experience issues let me know!My Other Plant Pot DesignsRhombagon SpiralHexagonSpiral Lattice
