window shade automatic opener/closer
thingiverse
Hi all. This design was created in AutoCAD so dimensions might be a bit off. Feel free to edit it based on your motor's specifications. I have this tiny six-volt motor that I got on eBay, which is ready for experimentation with different motors and speeds. If you need help wiring the thing, just let me know. Click ThingView and scroll around the model in the pictures. Instructions 1. Buy the motor and ensure its dimensions match the assembly. 2. Place the motor inside the smaller 3D print and secure it using either super glue or hot glue to fix it firmly. 3. Slide the bigger print over the motor holder and make sure that the motor shaft fits perfectly into the hole on the spool. 4. Wire up the motor using one switch and a (four) AA battery holder, referring to the picture for the correct wiring setup. You will need a special three-position switch available at RadioShack. 5. Attach the assembly securely to the top of the window sill by tying the shade string on the spool. 6. You're done!
