My colleague had a problem with his Lorenove window, but he couldn't find the broken part as a spare. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and reverse-engineer the missing piece using an old-fashioned approach: measuring it with a caliper. In fact, I tried using the hype scan 3D method, but it didn't work out (it was my first attempt, but I'm not giving up yet). I printed the part in PLA, but it turned out to be very weak. So I thought I'd try again with ABS, which would give me a stronger result. Unfortunately, that one failed at 80% of its height too. Next time, I'll print the part on the bed at an angle instead of flat. This should help prevent it from breaking along its natural weaknesses due to layering and non-parallel shape. I gave my colleague a PLA part, but he broke it when testing its strength. However, after gluing and taping it together, his window is now working again. Yes!
