Window frame vertical farming kit for small apartments
thingiverse
This is a project that has consumed my time for quite some time now. In essence, it's a simple system designed to support plants on a small scale vertical farm in my apartment. The kit consists of two main parts: the copper support frame/anchors and the net weaving tools required to create the net. To build the copper frame, you will need: * 15mm copper tube (for plumbing), two lengths long enough for your window. * Four printed round clips and rounclip2. * Approximately six anchors. * Braces that have been modified and printed as needed. * A bag of 25mm diameter 3m double-sided foam pads. These pads can be stuck to the anchors and round clips, then fixed to the window frame. Next, insert the copper tube and secure it using the roundclip2 part. Add braces if you think there will be a lot of weight on the frame, especially if the copper tube sections are long. For weaving the net: * Approximately 60 meters (200ft) of string or garden twine. If your window is large, consider having more. * The netting hook and sizing board. * One anchor. * One carabiner, any size. I followed a YouTuber's guide on how to weave the netting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfTWgMTqGqY. Make sure you get the width right before starting on the length; otherwise, you may have to stretch the net quite far to fit it in place. The net hook can be scaled down for small nets and up for larger nets. The sizing board creates diamonds that are approximately 10cm wide. Scale accordingly. Once the net is complete, loop it through the copper pipes to form a secure netting system for vertical farming.
