You can print that first layer in any background color you want - "Water" works great to make text or images really pop. If you want a different color, switch filament after the first layer and get ready for a showstopper. To achieve that smooth finish, print on Kapton or glass, and let the Flexion Extruder take care of those pesky gaps in the first layer that affect adhesion.
