Follow the official blog post: https://www.prusaprinters.org/?p=8875&preview=true. Our first 3D print enclosed files are now available. We printed them using Prusament PLA galaxy black, but if you plan to place the windmill outside, consider using PET or ABS instead. This is because PLA does not resist high temperatures, especially when it's black, as it absorbs almost all of the sun's energy. You will need 12 blades, one base, one shaft part, one tail and tail grip, clips (one A, six B, five C), and one nose to complete the windmill. The nose requires supports, but the rest can be printed without them. No special printing settings are required; just use the default settings. When your printed parts are ready, it's time to assemble the windmill. Take one spool frontage and push it onto the base, then insert the smooth rod. On the opposite end of the rod, place the joint and slide the second smooth rod in perpendicularly. Next, insert nuts into the holes and secure the rod with screws. Take the tail and slide it into the tail grip, securing it with screws. Install it on the longer end of the horizontal rod and make sure to secure the whole tail as well. Now, take the second spool frontage and prepare the clips. Click them onto the spool as shown in the picture and insert the blades. Use super glue if needed. The last step is to assemble the shaft. It's essential to secure the 3D printed ring between the gears; this will protect the wheel from sliding off. Don't forget to use screws with a flat head for securing it, as it needs to rotate freely inside the shaft cover. Your windmill is now complete! You can take it to the next level by linking it with a motor via a belt, turning it into a ventilator. The choice is yours!
