Windmill - Pinwheel Optical Illusion
thingiverse
A brilliant design by Dalpek and remixed by CBC. This remix seamlessly integrates CBC's prints into a stunning windmill application. I enlarged the pinwheels to a diameter of 186 mm, creating a more impressive visual effect. To achieve this, I utilized a 1/2" drill bit in a drill press to clean out the wheel center hole. Next, I took some time to meticulously smooth out the blades, ensuring they would function optimally. After that, I pressed in the bushing and installed the bushing washer. This attention to detail is crucial for a successful project. Here are the wire options: Wire: 2.4mm wire clothes hanger or 3/32" brass welding rod (2.5mm). To achieve balance between the tail and blades, I moved the blades around until they were perfectly aligned. In some cases, a spacer may be necessary to ensure smooth operation. The following drill sizes were used: Pinwheel center hole: 1/2" drill bit Pinwheel bushing center hole: #39 Nose cone center hole: #42 Holes in the frame for wire inserts: #42 Frame mount: #35 Frame tail hole where filament is used: #49 To complete the project, I applied glue where necessary.
