Windmill for Scythe
thingiverse
I've created a windmill model for the board game Scythe. Replacing wooden building tokens with 3d printed models seemed like an exciting idea, so I designed this one and plan to make more models for other buildings as well. You'll need five or seven of these, depending on whether you're playing Invaders from Afar. When printing this model, be sure to add support to the windmill blade at 2:00 o'clock. I used meshmixer to create two trees running parallel to the 5:00 blade and it worked perfectly. The other three blades shouldn't need any support, but the 7:00 blade is sensitive to disturbances while being built since it's only held up by the steam whistle until it reaches the hub. This model prints better if you rotate it so its long axis aligns with your printer bed's moving axis. For my Prusa printer, that means rotating it 90 degrees so the windmill faces right or -90 degrees to face left, making sure the blade sides are along the Y-axis. If you're interested in seeing more of my Scythe upgrades, check out my blog at objectforge.blogspot.com/p/scythe-upgrades.html. Alternatively, if you'd rather not print this yourself, it might be available from one of my 3D printing partners listed at https://objectforge.blogspot.com/p/3d-printing-partners.html.
