Very nice 6 blade hub design by doominabox1.\nHub features reduced size with low friction races 3mm long at each end. I used a #39 drill bit on the center hole to create a precise fit. Blade holes can be easily cleaned up with a 13/64" drill bit for a smooth finish.\nBase Mount: Clean the center hole with a #35 drill bit for wire pivot or other suitable material. To reduce friction, I dropped a small piece of metal into the bottom of the center hole. A bead between the mount_pipeV3 and the printed frame provides added stability.\nSeveral tail sections are provided, but any object 2.5mm thick will work just fine. Simply attach it to the hub for a customized look.\nWire:\nA wire clothes hanger (2.4mm) or a piece of 3/32 brass welding rod (2.5mm) 110mm long works perfectly. Its durability and flexibility make it ideal for this project.\nFrame:\nI printed the frame using PLA at 220 degrees. The first 30 minutes were printed at 100% speed, followed by the balance of time printed at 72%. Faster speeds may result in a smaller stem hole, while slower speeds will produce a larger one. Allow the stem to cool completely before working with it.\nYour results may vary depending on the printer and settings used. Clean wire holes with a #42 index bit and press 110mm long wire rods into position for a secure fit.\nThe tail section includes holes for pinning it in place using 1.75 mm filament. Use an index drill bit (#49) to clean these holes, and ensure that the v-notch is centered on the tail section.\nFit up the necessary components carefully, as there are many variables involved. I recommend using a drill press for accurate holes. Lubricant and balancing of components will also help achieve smooth movement.\nFor maximum efficiency, place the blades with their smooth side facing the wind. This design provides optimal performance and durability.\nSources:\nCheck out these similar designs on Thingiverse: klapotetz, rooster, windmill, catz, yin & yang cats, Targaryen tail, Lion tail, and Wolf tail.\nUpdate History:\nThe project has undergone several updates since its initial release. On 4.25.16, I added tails, a printable frame, and re-sized blade ends for easier fit-up. On 5.7.16, I included the noseCone.stl file and tail_yin & yang cats.stl. Print a mirror image of the cat design for a unique look and glue them together.\nOn 5.15.16, I added the Targaryen tail spacer bead, while on 5.20.16, the Lion tail was introduced. The Wolf tail and 10mm spacer bead were added on 5.22.16. The frame v3 & v4 were released on 5.26.16, followed by a note about potential issues with PLA softening in high heat conditions.\nPrint Settings:\nNotes: This design uses translucent PLA for a unique aesthetic.
