Wind/Water-Foot-Shield - Spare Part - Motrocycle

I broke this shield and I found no replacement part for my "old" bike. I thought about modelling it in Blender and than printing it. But how to get the measures to make it fit? I remembered my kinect scanner. I first spayed the transparent part white with chalk - and then - with Scannekt as software I got a quick and dirty, but correct sized, scan. I imported this scan into Blender and used it as a base to model the part. The scanned intact shield was taken from the right side - so I just had to mirror it before printing - and - bingo - I got the replacement for the right side - everything worked fine.
