I've designed with Autodesk Fusion 360 a cutting-edge anemometer that I'm excited to integrate into my sail-bot. It consists of two primary hardware components: the GY-87 IMU and the 12.4mm 300Rpm 6 Wires 6 Conductors Capsule Slip Ring 240V AC for Monitor Robotic SRC012C. The latter is a game-changer, allowing me to connect electric wires between rotating parts of my anemometer. These components can be easily sourced online for under a few dollars each. The GY-87 IMU will provide accurate wind heading readings, mounted on the anemometer's rotating section, while the SRC012C will be positioned between the rotating part and the base. I'm considering adding a DC motor to the front of the "arrow" to generate extra power, which might feature in my next update.
