Wind-up Dual Planetary Gear
thingiverse
Intended to replace a steel spring in a timepiece model. Power is stored in multiple rubber bands, stretched across both sides between shafts through the outer ring and planetary gears. The central drive gear will be secured via a ratchet mechanism to another drivetrain and escapement system. Untested concept. It may ultimately become a paperweight or fidget device. Note: minor design flaw, necessitating a fixed carrier for the inner planet gears (not included). Edit: Experimenting with clearances to prevent overlap. MCAD/involute_gears was not designed for internal gears and subtracting an external gear is only a rough approximation. The slicer usually resolves overlap issues though. Also some bug fixes with parameterization have been implemented.
