Wind Turbine Sail

Wind Turbine Sail

These are the files for the sail and only the sail portion of the wind turbine. The axle diameter this design is tailored for is 7.9mm. The concept revolves around offsetting two sets of three sails, each designed to be aerodynamic and generate maximum lift force with minimal drag. I employed 3mm x 3mm balsa wood, which pressure fits into channels, and for enhanced security, I recommend using super glue. Initially, I covered each wind with duct tape but after careful consideration, I decided to create the pointed end from thin plexiglass and filled the remaining rounded end with duct tape. The most effective attachment method I discovered is drilling a small hole into the plexiglass, then forcing the tip of the balsa wood to fit and securing it with hot glue. The indentations on the axle serve as a guide to line up the balsa wood, which will connect directly to the wing itself. This design has not yet been tested but is scheduled for evaluation in a wind tunnel soon. For any questions or comments, please contact me at ethanbariteau@gmail.com or on Instagram @eb.7571.
