Wind Turbine (Generator) 12v

I designed a small DC wind generator that produces electric power for charging phones, radios, and LED lights. The design focuses on being rugged, weatherproof, cheap, and reliable. My goal is to contribute to countries and communities without basic electricity by providing a simple means of generating light for their homes. With this design, I aim to make a significant impact in regions where access to electricity is limited. By harnessing the power of wind, individuals can generate their own energy, reducing reliance on external sources and improving their overall quality of life. Recently, I uploaded a picture of the shaft couplers required for the propeller. These components are available on online marketplaces such as eBay or AliExpress. Specifically, you will need one 4mm-8mm coupler; however, if you have an alternative coupler, I am willing to provide a customized STL file tailored to your specific needs. As of September 14th, 2019, I have allowed remixes of this turbine design, enabling individuals with smaller printing beds to adapt the parts to their requirements. Please note that any modifications should be shared with the community to facilitate further innovation and collaboration. In response to suggestions for improving the flin design's aerodynamics, I created two new versions: one with a hole for inserting a 2mm steel wire for added stiffness, and another without this feature. The updated files are titled "aerodynamic flin design with hole for wire.STL" and "aerodynamic flin_design.STL." Following feedback from the Hackaday blog, I uploaded additional files to the original design on October 16th, 2018. These new files include a housing without a gearbox, allowing users to opt out of using a NEMA17 gearbox. This modification is designed to accommodate standard NEMA17 motors regardless of amperage rating. Users should note that the motor's shaft will be 5mm in diameter, eliminating the need for a 4-5mm shaft coupler. For optimal performance with this modified design, I recommend using a 3-winged propeller, which requires less wind power and is lighter in weight. A 6-winged propeller will also function effectively, although it may be slightly more challenging to operate. The "propeller with 3 wings (1,2,3)" file allows users to create a propeller with three wings, utilizing either existing or new wings with holes for inserting metal wire for added strength. Additionally, I have included the "hollow flin for propeller" design, which was suggested by Paul from Hackaday. This hollow propeller features holes for inserting 2mm metal wire, enhancing its structural integrity.
