Wind turbine

cults3d

My entry for the Cults3D I'v been always fascinated about the wind turbines and how they work. After I bought my 3D printer a Artillery sidewinder x1. I was playing around with the idea and downloaded a few wind mill designs and printed them. Found a couple nice ones, but I wasn't entirely happy with them. So I started designing my own in Fusion 360 first I started with the blades. After a lot of research and tutorials came out with a relly satisfying blade design. After blades the time has come to do the body and tail. That was pretty much straight forward. And that's it I have a nice wind turbine in my garden which catches attention from my neighbors. Parts you'll need : • Threaded rod M10 150 mm long ( for the shaft ), • M10 lock nut ( 2 pieces ), • Sealed ball bearing ( d = 10, D =26, h = 8 mm, 2 pieces ), • Ball bearing for the body ( d = 30, D = 55, h = 13 mm ), • Set screw M5 x 10 mm ( 6 pieces ), • Bolt M5 x 40 mm, • Hex nut M5. Tool’s that you’ll need : • M5 tap ( for taping the blade carrier ), • Hex wrench How to assemble : After you print all the printable parts. Start with the blade carrier, you’ll have to tap the holes with M5 taping tool there are 6 holes that needed to be tapped ( be carefull not to damge threads when you create them ). After taping those small holes, insert the blades in the big holes at a slight angle. And secure the blades with set screw’s. Last you’ll need to put spacers for the shaft. At the exploded view you are gonna find them at numbers 15 and 16 . 15 goes at the front of the blade carrier and 16 goes at the back of the blade carrier. Main body assembly Put the bearings ( num 13 at exploded view ) in the front and back bearing holes. Also you can put the big bearing in the bottom hole. After that you are gonna put the M10 shaft through bearings and put the lock nut at the back side of the main body. When this is done you can attach main body with blade carrier and you can put the seccond lock nut at the end. Do not tight it to hard. Tail assembly Put the tail shaft in the main body and attach it with the M5 x 40 bolt and put the M5 hex nut on the other side. Don't tight it to hard ( remember it is only plastic ). Also put the tail and secure it with some small M5 screw and nut. All stl. Files will be numbered as in the exploded view so you'll know where the things should go. Print setings : • Layer height 0.2 mm • Support where needed • Infill 20 % • Outline shells 3 • Top and botom solid layers 3 Print settings for blade carrier : • Layer height 0,2 mm • Infill 20 % • Outline shells 5 • Top and botom solid layers 5
