Wind roller: Savonius wind turbine
youmagine
This DIY vawt is not the most efficient, but it works seamlessly with 3D printed bearings and a few simple hacks. To set it up, use 16mm PVC tubes or any other diameter pipe - just refer to the OpenSCAD file for detailed instructions. Based on research from Increase in the Savonius Rotor's Efficiency via Parametric Investigation, this project aims to optimize rotor efficiency through careful design choices. For more educational resources, check out my vertical axis wind turbine design, specifically designed for learning and experimentation. The OpenSCAD files are available for download. To get started with this DIY vawt: 1. Test the bearings from the 3D printed parts (Thingiverse: Tol's 3D Printed Bearing Test) 2. Print the rest of the components 3. That's it - you're ready to harness the power of wind!
