This instrument was created for Ultimaker's Design Engine Challenge Week 1. The challenge was to create an object that creates sound or music. The parameter cards for this challenge are “permanent” and “design for them”. I envisioned this instrument as a permanent installation at the “Rocks at Gloucester”, on the ocean’s edge in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The ocean is violent there and hits the rock outcropping with force. This instrument could be printed on a large format printer and be installed partially submerged just off the edge of the rocks. When the ocean water hits it or the wind blows over it, it would play nature sounds for all those who visit.
