Wind Gauge with 608ZZ Bearing
thingiverse
I printed Stumphopper's wind gauge but encountered two issues: firstly, a gentle breeze wouldn't spin the gauge; it only rotated with a gust. Secondly, the arms sagged under heat, about half an inch on a 82-degree sunny day in Southern California. A hot August day could fold them down completely. To fix these problems, I inserted a 608ZZ bearing for smoother rotation and replaced the plastic arms with 5/16" wooden poplar rods from the hardware store. I also removed the wind direction piece as it was not necessary for my needs. Printing settings: PLA at 60mm/s while extruding, 70mm/s while traveling, 20% infill with no rafts or supports.
