Wind Chime spinner
thingiverse
My Christmas gift was a wind chime square, but no spinner was included. I found some on the web for $15-$20, which seemed expensive, so I quickly made my own prototype using items from my desk such as a 1.5V battery, wires, plastic strips, safety pins, and an old CD-ROM. Check out this YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RvLLuwNciM&feature=youtu.be) to see how I did it. To make the spinner, remove the engine from the CD-ROM, solder wires to the connector and battery, attach safety pins to the plastic strips for decoration, and hang everything up using the plastic strips. For a better swing, bring the engine hangers closer together when you hang it up. With some junk items and minimal time, you can create something useful!
