Williamson Tunnels Big Dig - Sep 2019 [Lo Res]
sketchfab
Friends Of Williamson Tunnels undertakes excavation/exploration project, conducting photogrammetry scan in area adjacent to our base. The site, which must be backfilled in a few days, is covered by approximately 600 photos, showcasing the main area with heavy cuts. An accurate 3D model of this section will become available once we can safely access the area again. This view reveals early 19th century basement sections from houses built by Joseph Williamson, a small tunnel running under the street, and a small hole leading into a newly-discovered, massive tunnel at least four meters underground. The tunnel measures about thirteen meters long, five to six meters wide, and its depth is still unknown. The tunnel entrance is through its brick and stone arched roof, with some bricks removed in the past to fill it with spoil. Due to this removal, we cannot determine how deep the tunnel extends, but it's possible that it could be as much as ten meters or more below ground level.
