The Williams Park Band Shell (8PI10460 on the Florida Master Site File) stands proudly in St. Petersburg's City Parks and Recreation portfolio, nestled between 2nd and 1st Avenue North within the Historic District area. Constructed with a unique blend of metal and concrete, this iconic structure boasts a striking triangular-shaped design and a one-of-a-kind roof that commands attention. The University of South Florida's Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections (DHHC) joined forces with the City of St. Petersburg to meticulously record every detail of this historic landmark as part of a comprehensive survey aimed at cataloging Williams Park's valuable resources. By combining cutting-edge technologies like Terrestrial Laser Scanning using a FARO Focus3D 330 range model, which captured both elevated and ground-based scanning data, with Photogrammetry and GPS survey techniques, the team was able to create an incredibly detailed record of the park's condition. The resulting 3D model is a direct result of this innovative approach, providing an accurate representation of the structure as it stands today.
