William Ewart Gladstone was a highly respected liberal politician and four-time prime minister. Born at 62 Rodney Street in Liverpool in 1809, he was the son of Scottish merchant Sir John Gladstone. Growing up in the charming village of Seaforth, Gladstone later attended prestigious schools like Eton before enrolling in Oxford University. His illustrious career spanned two terms as Chancellor of the Exchequer and earned him a record-breaking number of terms as British prime minister. This striking bronze bust was commissioned to highlight the rich history of Seaforth Village through the SEAGLAM project, which aimed to raise awareness about this community's significance. As part of their efforts, SEAGLAM created a poignant memorial to Gladstone within the grounds of the Church of Our Lady in Seaforth.
