Wild turkey head vasculature - OUVC 10599
sketchfab
Skull of an adult wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo, OUVC 10599), with annotations of some of the blood vessels. It was legally collected by a local hunter and provided to us for research and education. We scanned the head region on the OUµCT scanner in 2009 at a resolution of 90µm (0.090 mm). Scan data were imported into workstations running Avizo and digitally extracted the bones and soft tissues. The work on this project was done by Ruger Porter during his dissertation research on dinosaur blood vessels and their role in thermal physiology. This model is associated with an Anatomical Record article by Porter & Witmer (http://bit.ly/25KgFvN). The original CT scan data can be downloaded on Dryad (http://bit.ly/2ewrehr), along with a 3D PDF that provides comparable content to what’s here but allows the user more control. This model can be downloaded here as an FBX.
