Wifi Skywatcher Synscan V3/V4 Telescope Link
thingiverse
Following up on my successful Bluetooth Synscan interface, I have now developed a WiFi version that offers a more reliable connection over longer distances. External WiFi controller for the Synscan hand controller allows remote access via the handset's serial port to read the scope's position and slew it to objects from Stellarium or Stars on a Mac using the Indi server drivers. The three low-cost modules inside are all readily available from Gearbest or eBay or similar websites, requiring only minimal programming of the ESP device. One spare ST4 cable is needed as it has the full six wires for powering the modules from the handset and will require one end to be cut off. Parts required include: * Spare ST4 cable * NodeMCU ESP8266 WiFi module (available at https://www.gearbest.com/transmitters-receivers-module/pp_366523.html) * Power convertor module (found at http://www.gearbest.com/development-boards/pp_51010.html?wid=21) * RS232 to TTL converter (located on eBay at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2Pcs-Com-Serial-Board-Max232cse-Transfer-Rs232-To-Ttl-Converter-Module-Ic-New-U/132187217126?hash=item1ec6f8dce6:g:GJMAAOSwKOJYIEc4) * Various nylon pillars and screws to mount the board inside the box Full details are included in a PDF file, which can be found in the things files. Please follow these instructions carefully. When using Stars with the Indi Server on a Mac, you can choose Celestron Nexstar telescope mount from the drivers and connect directly at the IP address on port 2323. You will encounter an error right at connection, but after that it runs perfectly.
