WiFi Propeller Boat II
cults3d
After almost continuous printing for over 3000 hours, I decided to shut down the Ultimaker 3 Extended for a much-needed cleaning and maintenance session. To my surprise, after examining the belt and pulley, tightening them, cleaning and lubricating the machine, only one part needed replacing: the Y axis head bearing. After sharing a video and photos with the staff at both Ultimaker and fbrc8, they sent me a new bearing in just two days, courtesy of Matt, Erin, and Joseph. With the Ultimaker 3 Extended back up and running, I decided to create another propeller-styled boat design, WiFi Propeller Boat II. This design is my second attempt at creating a propeller boat. Although I previously stated that WiFi Propeller Boat was my last summer project, with the Ultimaker 3 Extended operational again, I added a dual-extrusion wing and support to WiFi Propeller Boat II. The stern end hull size increased to accommodate the new wing and support, while the main axles were lengthened to compensate for the larger hull. I also designed a dual-extrusion cover. Please note that I intended WiFi Propeller Boat II to be "splash-resistant," not waterproof. If a rogue wave or an adventurous family member decides to "submarine" my boat, good luck is required. As usual, I may have forgotten some files or made other mistakes, so feel free to ask questions if you're unsure about anything. I designed WiFi Propeller Boat II using Autodesk Fusion 360 and sliced it with Cura 3.4.1. The model was printed in PLA on both the Ultimaker 2+ Extended and the Ultimaker 3 Extended.
