WiFi Propeller Boat

WiFi Propeller Boat

Summer is winding down in Oklahoma yet the kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and everyone we know are still cooling off at Lake Zumwalt. To add more pool toy entertainment for the last days of summer, I decided to design a final boat, WiFi Propeller Boat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAwhe1nPW_8 The WiFi Paddle Boat is a twin hull, twin counter rotating propeller boat controlled via wifi using a smart phone, tablet or other touch enabled device. The WiFi Propeller Boat creates a wifi access point that you connect to via your wifi enabled device's wifi settings. Then, using your wifi touch enabled device web browser, you simply navigate to the WiFi Propeller Boat web page and start moving forward! The controls for WiFi Propeller Boat are identical to those of my WiFi Paddle Boat design so it's familiar for the grandkids to operate. I've also added battery voltage monitoring to the display so a swim isn't necessary to recover the boat when the battery depletes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKdaZtk4kQ4 To keep the electronics dry, WiFi Propeller Boat uses 3D printed "universal joints" that allow positioning of the electronics above the water line. I've included a video of the universal joints in a test fixture to illustrate how they operate. A word of caution; I designed WiFi Propeller Boat to be "splash resistant", not "waterproof". If a rogue wave, grandchild or niece/nephew decides to take a swim with the boat, good luck! As usual, I probably forgot a file or two so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I do make mistakes in plenty. I designed WiFi Propeller Boat using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced it using Cura 3.4.1, and printed it in PLA on both an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and an Ultimaker 3 Extended.
