The custom laser cut platform for Thimble.io's inaugural kit, the wifi-robot, was specifically designed with ~3mm thick birch plywood in mind. However, other materials may also function seamlessly. How I Created This Design Software This design was created using LibreCAD, an open-source 2D CAD tool. Unfortunately, LibreCAD had some limitations, including a viable scripting language. As a result, the encoders were designed using a python script that leveraged xdotool to click on the user interface, input commands, and navigate through tools.
