Widescreen Holographic Box for Smartphones
thingiverse
I'm excited to show you my latest creation, a horizontal "widescreen" HoloBox for Smartphones that uses the Pepper's ghost illusion technique. It's perfect for advertising and really makes your products shine! To set it up, simply slide in an acrylic glass sheet and place your smartphone on top. The best results come from pictures, animations, and videos with a black background. On your smartphone, make sure to turn off automatic brightness and crank the slider all the way up to maximum brightness. This version is designed for horizontal product presentation, so your videos need to be horizontal too - 1920px * 1080px is the perfect size. For optimal results, you'll want a special holographic reflective film that's attached with water and dish soap to a piece of acrylic glass. I got mine from http://www.defi-tech.com/holo-film-for-showcase.html - it's not on Aliexpress, but trust me, it's worth the extra effort! This foil reduces double reflection caused by the 2mm thick acrylic glass and gives you a one-way mirror effect that's not too shiny. If you know of any alternatives, let me know! You can also use just the acrylic glass, but be prepared for a visible double reflection on your projection. A better option in a dark environment is a piece of transparent film for laser printers - it's only 0.1mm thick and eliminates the double reflection. However, in daylight, the projection will be pale and lack contrast because it's missing the reflective coating. If you have any ideas on different foils that might work, I'd love to hear them! My acrylic glass sheet measures 139mm x 85mm x 2mm, and you can check out a video of how it looks like here: https://youtu.be/uHrAtZ-sKM8 or https://www.instagram.com/p/B9RlEKnnpdh/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link.
