Wide Dispersion Corner Mount Home Theater Speakers
thingiverse
These speakers are designed as home theater Atmos height channels for short, wide rooms where it is impossible to meet the Dolby speaker placement recommendations. My room is 13' deep x 18' wide, with a sectional couch all the way in the corner and a soffit 4' into the room. I wanted a speaker to fit into the edge of the soffit that would acoustically match the low-profile on-walls I am using for left-right surrounds. These speakers are designed with sufficiently large internal volume and a port such that they can be crossed over to a subwoofer at 120 Hz. I am currently using a single RSL Speedwoofer for the subwoofer and it sounds great. These speakers are shaped differently, but are an acoustical match to my Low Profile On-Wall Home Theater Speakers: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5365618 The on-wall surrounds linked above use the wide-dispersion TEBM-46 drivers in a ported and tuned enclosure. These speakers use the same drivers with the same enclosure volume and matching port dimensions. Depending on room shape, acoustics, and/or design aesthetic, either these or the on-wall versions could be swapped with each other. These are NOT recommended for use as simulated height channels on top of other speakers. They have an extremely wide dispersion pattern and will not create an illusion of height. You will hear them as coming from in front of you, not above you. If they are used as height speakers they must be mounted up high. I have them mounted 45 degrees above the main listening position and they work great. Ideally I would mount them even higher.
