Wide band pattern ring

Wide band pattern ring

Here is a wide band ring with a pattern along it, made using FreeCAD 0.17 and its helix and surface/solid element tools. I added an OpenSCAD model to this design, but the edges don't look great. The OpenSCAD model uses a matrix with values ranging from 0 to 15, where each number defines which elements are subtracted from the surface. Each matrix value defines four triangles based on a rectangle divided into four sections from center to corner. To remove the right element, add one to that matrix value; to remove the top element, add two; for the left element, add four; and for the bottom element, add eight (four bits or half byte). This design works like a previous model but is more complex. You can find an example of this type of design at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3030725. The OpenSCAD model has some issues with straight edges at the center and runs slowly. You can create patterns by setting 'crear_anillo = 2' and then creating the ring with 'crear_anillo = 0'. Remember that the OpenSCAD code is licensed under GPL.
