Wicked Edge Stone Holder
thingiverse
This holder is designed to securely hold 8 or 16 Wicked Edge stones upright using 1/4 dowel rods cut to precisely 5 1/2 inches long. The dowels are an inexpensive and quick option to produce, especially considering their widespread availability at hardware stores. To prepare them for use, I chamfered the ends and applied a thin coat of polyurethane, which provided a smooth finish. Currently, I have not printed the larger version, but I do utilize two of the smaller holders for my stones and strops. These small holders prove to be highly effective in keeping the stones upright after cleaning, while also separating them to prevent cross-contamination by filings. A clever design allows you to print 1/4 inch dowels if desired, yet with my printer's capabilities, it would be faster to purchase the dowel rods from a hardware store, cut them to size, and then finish them, including allowing sufficient time for drying before they are ready for use. The holders fit snugly into their respective holes without requiring any adhesive, ensuring a secure hold on the stones.
