Why won't he wring me!
grabcad
This concept emphasizes a technical aspect over aesthetics, yet features an attractive organic DNA-like design from its spiral rib cutouts. The mop wringer utilizes longer loops of string wound around two pins; by pulling the handle upwards to the top stop, the shaft begins screwing the strings together for effective water extraction, similar to squeezing a wet towel. A screw mechanism is chosen due to its mechanical advantage, though achieving a full two turns might be challenging. A 3D-printed prototype would aid in ironing out these kinks. Nylon would be ideal for contact parts due to low friction, while HDPE or ABS can be used for other components. The shaft is stainless steel since oval carbon steel profiles were unavailable online; aluminum extrusions could also work but must maintain an oval shape to prevent rotation. Peened rivets secure the strings in place. Targeting a higher-end market, Casabella's design features a brushed stainless steel shaft.
