Whoop Gates - Modular System
thingiverse
I started this project a year ago, with the goal of creating an easy-to-use modular system that can create different gates with various shapes and sizes. Initially, I made these to use old used LED strips that I had lying around. If you don't have any LED strip, I recommend using: - 5M WS2812B SMD5050 Non-waterproof LED Strip Light DC5V - https://bit.ly/2Rj63j8 - Bluetooth APP Smart LED Controller for WS2811 WS2812 RGB Strip Light DC5-12V - https://bit.ly/2ybgSLw - Remote Controller for WS2811 WS2812B LED Strip Light DC5-24V - https://bit.ly/2Owv4ss You can use any 5V power supply, a power bank, or even Lipo using one of these: 2S-6S Lipo to USB Power Converter 5V 2A - https://bit.ly/2OwDzE2 All the gate parts are designed for 10mm Width LED strip. You can use non-waterproof or waterproof LED strip. If you find that the waterproof LED strip is difficult to pass through the 3D printed parts, put WD40 on a napkin and softly pass it through the LED strip to make it easier to insert in the 3D printed part. With these parts, you can create square, rectangular, and hexagonal gates with the size you want. Just add extension parts between connections. Use "Corner Part," "Hexagon Part," "Extension60mm," "Extension120mm," and "Extension180mm." You can link similar gate shapes and create a tunnel using the "Link+Part." The "Feet part" allows you to easily put the gate on a vertical surface. This part also allows you to link and stack the gates using the 4 slots they have. The "Link_Xpart" is a smaller part that allows you to link and stack the gates using the 4 slots they have. There is a "Link-Cube part" that you can use to create cube forms. There are two "Gate Fixation Parts" to use with this part (https://bit.ly/2P2YGuw). My goal was to have a simple way to fix my gates to any super-flat surface like glass, metal sheet, and similar using a powerful suction cup. I now have more than 12 single gates, 3 tunnels, two cubes linked, and all with LED strip. For all these gates, I used 4 x PLA Clear spools and lots of spool remains from other filaments for accessories. What can I say? I like to play with whoops. -- Updated April 13, 2019: I added Hexagon Tips (short and long with male and female connections) to make half hexagons to indicate the way to turn in our whoop tracks. Here's a small video where I use some of these gates! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijlcbOg-yjo Whoop On!
