Whoop Gates - Modular System

Whoop Gates - Modular System

I started this project a year ago with the goal of creating an easy-to-use modular system that could produce various gates in different shapes and sizes. Initially, I designed these to utilize old, used LED strips that I had on hand. If you don't have any LED strips, I recommend checking out the following options: 5M WS2812B SMD5050 Non-Waterproof LED Strip Light DC5V - https://bit.ly/2Rj63j8 Bluetooth APP Smart LED Controller for WS2811 WS2812 RGB Strip Light DC5-12V - https://bit.ly/2ybgSLw Remote Controller for WS2811 WS2812B LED Strip Light DC5-24V - https://bit.ly/2Owv4ss You can power the gates with any 5V power supply, a power bank, or even a Lipo using one of these converters: 2S-6S Lipo to USB Power Converter 5V 2A - https://bit.ly/2OwDzE2 All gate parts are designed for use with 10mm width LED strips. You can use either non-waterproof or waterproof strips. If you find that the waterproof strip is difficult to pass through the 3D printed parts, try using WD40 on a napkin and softly passing it through the strip to make it easier to insert into the part. With these parts, you can create square, rectangular, and hexagonal gates of any size. Simply add extension parts between connections. Use "Corner Part," "Hexagon Part," "Extension60mm," "Extension120mm," and "Extension180mm." You can also link similar gate shapes to create a tunnel using the "Link+Part." The "Feet part" allows you to easily mount the gate vertically. This part also enables linking and stacking gates using the 4 slots they have. The "Link_Xpart" is a smaller component that allows for linking and stacking gates using the 4 slots they have. There's also a "Link-Cube part" that can be used to create cube forms. Two "Gate Fixation Parts" are available to use with this system (https://bit.ly/2P2YGuw). My idea was to provide a simple way to attach gates to any super-flat surface, like glass or metal sheets, using a powerful suction cup. I now have more than 12 single gates, 3 tunnels, two cubes linked, and all with LED strips. For these gates, I used 4x PLA Clear spools and plenty of leftover filament for accessories. What can I say? I love playing with whoops! -- Updated April 13, 2019: I added Hexagon Tips (short and long with male and female connections) to make half-hexagons that indicate the direction to turn in our whoop tracks. Here's a small video showcasing some of these gates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijlcbOg-yjo Whoop On!
