The historic Whitechapel Bell Foundry was the longest-running manufacturing company in all of Great Britain, its legacy now sadly ended but its building proudly standing as a Grade II* listed landmark. Efforts are underway to repurpose the site into a luxurious hotel, while preservationists passionately advocate for preserving the location in a way that honors its original purpose. Iconic landmarks like Big Ben and the Liberty Bell were forged within these very walls. The foundry's current home sits at the bustling intersection of Whitechapel Road and Fieldgate Street, nestled firmly in the heart of London. Dating back to 1670, the oldest part of this venerable structure still stands today.
