White Labs Yeast - Vial Holders
thingiverse
I took it upon myself to create a design where my yeast vials could stand upright in the fridge. Given that I rarely have six vials on hand, I opted for an interlocking system that can be printed as needed. All of the work was done by me, and I used White Labs Yeast vials' reference dimensions. Please give credit or link back to this post if you choose to modify any part of my design. Please note that I'm still figuring out how various manufacturers label their yeast differently, which may cause some discrepancies in my designs' dimensions. White Labs labels their product names at a slightly lower point than the Yeast Bay does theirs, while their bacteria (lacto/pedio/brett) are labeled separately too. After refining the initial design to address a few minor issues and reducing material usage, I introduced Version 2 of the stands. In this iteration, I narrowed down the faces from 10mm to 5mm thick, downsized the holes so they fit better, lowered the support height by 15mm to clear the vial's label area, slightly widened the mounting holes, and increased the wall thickness by a couple mm. Later on, Version 3 was introduced to fix some lock-up issues I encountered with my first shapes. Unfortunately, they didn't quite interlock seamlessly, so I included the Solidworks files for anyone interested in experimenting with them. If you need alternative file formats like IGES or STP, feel free to ask and I'll add them accordingly. Here are my recommended print settings: Rafts: Not required Supports: None necessary Resolution: Set between 0.1mm and 0.2mm for a detailed finish. Infill: Maintain infill percentages within the range of 10% to 20%. Additional Notes: To ensure optimal printing accuracy, please confirm that your printer's bed is level. For post-printing, consider smoothing out the top 15-20mm section of the upright supports to guarantee a neat fit into their holes. The usage guidelines for my interlocking vial stands are as follows: 1. Print the top and bottom pieces with the flat sides facing down. 2. Assemble the two pieces together using a secure press or clips, and attach pictures later on!
