White Board Setup - Customizable

thingiverse

My wife wanted a white board in the kitchen, so I decided to save some money by making one myself. This DIY project uses corner points to hold the board in place, similar to other designs you may have seen. The difference is that this design is modular and can be customized to fit your needs. Included in the design are features like a holder for a standard white board marker, a hook for hanging a rag, and a blank face to hide the holes. You can easily import the "BlankFace.stl" file into any editing software and add on additional pieces you might want, such as a team mascot or family name. Here's what you'll need: * The 3D printed parts * A white board * 4 X #6 screws (dry wall anchors optional) * A box cutter * A straight edge * A screw driver * A small level (I used an app on my phone) You can get the 3D printed parts from a manufacturing website if you don't have access to a friend's 3D printer. I printed mine in PLA and it cost about $1.50 in materials. The white board can be bought at most hardware stores, and I got mine at Home Depot for $10 for a 2'x4' piece. This gave me plenty of extra white board for other projects around the house. Here's how to install the board: Measure out how wide you want to cut the board. Cut the white board using the straight edge and box cutter. Position the bottom left corner piece where you want the board to be. Make sure not to tighten the screw too much, as you'll want to allow the corner piece to rotate. Insert the white board for positioning. Rotate the white board and mark the position for the other three corners using a level. Install the bottom right corner piece. Tighten the bottom two pieces. Install the top two pieces. Snap on your attachment pieces and you're done! Check out this video tutorial: https://youtu.be/kiKnJv4kTn8
