Whisper phones are a great tool to help kids as they practice reading and other verbal skills. They are available online or often made out of PVC pipes, but I had a lot of surplus filament and a lot of kids to make them for. I developed this design to print with as little finishing work as possible, including without supports with proper bridging settings. The beveled edges help reduce burrs and sharp edges that need sanding before sharing with children. They are intended for child-size faces (approx. 6 in), but work quite well when held at the ear of adults. I used a standard PLA - the design has relatively thick walls that mean most filament types should stand a chance at normal classroom wear. The kids especially enjoyed the Banana Phone yellow aesthetic, and the brighter color made them easier to recover when the lesson was finished. I used: .28mm layer height 1.2mm walls 100% infill I recommend dialing in your bridging settings, especially speed and temperature, and reducing blobbing before attempting this print, as the inside will be difficult to finish if print artifacts are not dealt with beforehand. This is a work in progress and shared with love for all the educators, so please share or post any feedback that can help these work better.
