A straightforward 3D design for crafting a face shield using clear plastic attached to a ball cap creates a PPE solution that's both comfortable and economical. It functions optimally with plastic sheeting of around .7mm to 1mm thickness, which cuts and bends easily. The cheap plastic used for poster frames could potentially work well. Three clips combined with a rubber band provide a secure friction/tension fit or button elastic can be wrapped around the back of your head/cap instead. Designed for flat printing without supports, I utilized an 80 percent fill rate. I believe this design excels over others due to its minimal material requirements, compatibility with PLA, and better fitting ball caps that are readily available. This solution is also inexpensive and fast. Measure your cap's brim width but a 15" by 10" rectangle works well as a starting point. Add a strip of duct tape around the shield's bottom edge for enhanced comfort. I began cutting holes for clips approximately half an inch from the top, made three cuts, and then bent the tab inward to provide additional stability to the clip. Please note that this design has not been approved by any regulatory agency, including the FDA. It is intended for use when no other suitable option is available. This design is free to share, modify, or remix; however, please refrain from selling face shields created using this design. Instead, produce and distribute shields to assist others in need.
