Whirlpool Part 358684 Strike Lid Switch Extension
thingiverse
Initially, my cheap Whirlpool LSR8233JQO washing machine faced an issue where it couldn't enter the spin cycle, resulting in water-filled basket and no easy way to drain it. Investigating the timing unit (part 3953146) led me to consider creating a custom timing unit using a Raspberry Pi and AC relays or purchasing another washing machine. However, I found out that the spinning problem could also be due to part 3949237 switch lid malfunctioning. Upon examining the switch lid, I discovered that part 358684 strike lid switch wasn't toggling the lid switch (part 3949237). Rather than disassembling the machine, I decided to create a 3D-printed extension for part 358684 lid switch to fix the issue. The STL file and SCAD model are included in this post. Despite requiring some cleanup with small files and a hobby knife, the printed part resolved the problem. To print successfully, use support material and slicer settings mentioned in the instructions for optimal results with your specific printer configuration.
