This is a turbine-driven sprinkler that originated as a means to test 3D-printed impulse turbines, but it has proven itself to be an excellent device on its own merit. The turbine draws inspiration from bucket wheel designs that predated the Pelton turbine and harnesses far more power than necessary from a 1.3mm jet. It spins at over 3000rpm, producing a high-tech whirring sound. The turbine drives a 64-to-1 worm gear transmission to spin the deflector on the 3mm main jet, which will cover an area of 6-9 meters in diameter. Because of the large size of the main jet, this sprinkler requires a sturdy base or stake for support. The clamp-on stake holder is designed to accommodate half of a 3/4" (19mm) wooden dowel rod and utilizes a 20mm M3 screw and nut to provide clamping force. The files also include a .STEP model of the GHT thread and the turbine wheel, making it easier to reuse these parts in your own designs. Version 1.1 introduces two new features: "Redirector 4.stl," which boasts a uniform spray pattern, and "Redirector 3.stl," featuring an extended range but only effective at long distances. This latter design is particularly suitable for kids, showcasing how to create a leak-free seal around high-speed water jets.
