Where the Sidewalk Ends

I have many fond memories of reading Shel Silverstein's writings. That's why I wanted to try creating 3D cover art based on his works. The largest part of this model is designed to be hollow, keeping it lightweight and easy to handle. A hole in the back allows for simple hanging from a nail or hook. All parts should be carefully glued together as needed, including the base and edge pieces. You'll need to add supports for the kids and dog figures, but not for the sturdy base. ----- There is a place where the sidewalk begins, And before the street ends, And there the grass grows soft and green, And there the sun shines brightly seen, And there the moonbird rests from his flight, To soar in the peppermint breeze. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows white, And the dark street winds and bends with all its might. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers bloom, We shall walk with a walk that is swift and soon, And watch where the chalk-white arrows point to the room, To the place where the sidewalk begins. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is swift and soon, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows point to the room, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know, The place where the sidewalk begins. - Shel Silverstein
