When in Rome... "Tabula", board game
sketchfab
"Tabula", a favorite pastime among ancient Romans, comes alive in vivid detail as it's played out in a bustling II Century AD tavern scene. Artisans carefully recreate clay vessels ("terra sigillata") from the originals unearthed at the Los Bañales Archaeological site in Zaragoza, Spain, where the game was once a popular draw. Game pieces crafted from bone and glass are also meticulously reimagined, as are coins featuring Marcus Aurelius' silver denarii, while the pugium - an ancient Roman shield - has been painstakingly reconstructed to bring history to life.
