Wheelnut Boot
thingiverse
My car lost a couple of its wheel nut boots and I decided to put my printer to good use. My wheel nuts are 17mm, and these fit nice and tight once printed out on my printer. I put them straight on without even smoothing and they look fine. Let me know if anyone wants me to make a parametric version of this that supports other sizes. I wasn't really planning to upload this to thingiverse, so I just did it quick. They fit and work so well I figured I would upload them in case they are useful to someone else. Note: I added a custom support which should be snapped off after printing. I print these without any additional supports. Print Settings: Printer: Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 40% Notes: Printed in ABS on a heated bed (90 degrees C) with hairspray. Post-Printing I didn't do any post-production work, but for a really nice finish Acetone smoothing would make these better than the originals. How I Designed This I knocked this design together using SketchUp based on measurements taken from the original boot using a caliper.
