The addition of a mop attachment allows the robot to navigate abrupt changes in floor surface with ease, eliminating the need for an onboard gyro/accelerometer to trigger an obstacle avoidance maneuver. With this skid attached, the robot glides smoothly over bumps without experiencing wheelies or unnecessary stops and turns. Version 1 of the skid is designed as a press fit, requiring double-sided tape for secure attachment. Work on Version 2 is underway, featuring a quick attach/release mechanism. The design should fit various models, including the AOKiRobot/Shenzhen 3i Robotics CRL-200A, Betterlife CRL-200A, Proscenic LDS M6/R2, Cecotec Conga 3090, and Bobot Navi 1030.
