Wheeled Bronze Laver
sketchfab
The instructions given to Moses in the Book of Exodus mandated the construction of a bronze basin, strategically positioned outside the Tabernacle of Assembly, situated between the entrance of the Tabernacle and the Altar of Burnt Sacrifice. This basin was intended for Aaron and his sons, along with their successors as priests, to thoroughly wash their hands and feet prior to engaging in any priestly duties. Both the basin itself and its pedestal were crafted from bronze, utilizing polished bronze mirrors supplied by the Israelite women who served at the entrance of the Tabernacle. Following construction, the laver, its base, and the entire Tabernacle, including all its furnishings and the priests themselves, underwent a ritual anointing with holy oil.
