Wheel Rim - Klingon Kool By RSF
thingiverse
Another Solidworks model from my digital archives, this is an example model I created while teaching Engineering CAD course as a TA that I used for instructing my students. The assignment was to design a wheel rim that interfaces with a specified 5-bolt hub on a provided assembly and with a provided tire model. Students were given dimensions for the bolt pattern and cylindrical rim. The webbing/spoke design was left up to the students, and this is one of two creative designs I made to demonstrate it to them. This model was inspired by the magnum wheels on 60s Mustangs with a dash of "edgy" thrown in from the 2010s. The lighting in the renders was inspired by the Fast and the Furious franchise. I found the 5 reverse arc spokes reminded me of the blades on a Bat'leth, so I debossed the trefoil symbol of the Klingon Empire into the 5 main spokes for added visual detail. I no longer have SolidWorks access, so this model has been translated through Fusion360 to create this STL. I believe it made it through this process without issue, but if there are any problems, please let me know. The disc brake hub model was not included as it is not mine to share. I hope you enjoy this model. If you make it, please post pictures; I'd love to see them!
