Wheel inserts for Crawlers 1/18 to 1/24 scale
thingiverse
These are wheel inserts I made are for crawlers. They are inspired by bridgestone airless tire designs. These wheel inserts are for Crawlers 1/18 to 1/24 scale. I made a few different variations on blender. [type1,2,and 3]. The types have different shaped fins, the versions have different spacing between the fins, and there is a thick and thin version of each. I found that the thin versions worked better in general. I uploaded everything i made in a zip file including the blend file. The difference between the three versions is the fins are spaced differently. Type one has 1 fin per 10 degrees around the circle, type 2 is spaced 20 degrees around the circle, type 3 is spaced 30 degrees around the circle. in other words . Type 1 has 36 fins, type 2 has 18 fins, and type 3 has 12 fins. i played with a few different TPU some designs work better depending on the TPU. I have tried a veritey of TPU's such as Overture, Sunlu, sainsmart, and Siraya Tech.In case anyone was curious:I use .2mm nozzles. Each insert is approx. 10g of filament(about 8g ->10 for easy math) Or 40g of filament for a set of 4. A 1KG roll of this filament is approx $40(Siraya Tech). making a set costs approx. $1.60 if i did my math correctly. There are cheaper TPUs . These inserts are pretty cost effective. If anyone makes a better version of these and uploads the file, ill be stoked. Crawling is an expensive hobby, hopefully someone finds this useful and could hopefully save a few bucks.
