You might be able to get away with using just one if you're really pinched for weight. I'm planning on gluing two together and then painting them up. I used plastic model cement on my first set, so we'll see how well it holds up. They do seem a bit too heavy for aircraft wheels - my first pair weighed in at .3 oz or -.01kg, which is roughly what you'd get with two that are half-glued together.
