Wheel Exercise
sketchfab
I created a challenging exercise at the end of a course on modifiers that I took on CG Cookie. I picked up some valuable skills making this wheel, and it was definitely not an easy project to work with. The modifiers that were used most frequently were mirror and array, but solidify and the magnet snap to face tool also played important roles in its creation. Shrinkwrap could have been used to snap the tire tread around the base of the wheel, but I chose to use the magnet tool instead because it seemed like a better option. It was particularly difficult when figuring out the curves near the inner portion around the star, but I'm really happy with how it turned out! In the future, I plan to texture this model once I learn more about UV mapping.
